THE AP HAS CALLED THE RACE FOR MARX So he is the Republican nominee for Governor. He’ll be running against Phil Weiser, who is absolutely horrible policy wise. I will be voting for neither of them. My colleague Michael Brown made a great point about this primary:
Spending all that money paying your friends and family as “consultants” isn’t going to beat Phil Weiser. It won’t matter though, just wait until the media gets ginned up and goes into full attack mode. This is going to be an absolute ass kicking. By the way, Phil Weiser raised over $6.5 MILLION in his PRIMARY race. Now all Bennet’s money flows to him. We had a chance at normal and we blew it. Expect a lot more of this:

CHATBOTS ARE HELPING PEOPLE TALK TO THE DEAD This is very interesting to me, although I’m not sure I would do it myself. CU Boulder has created an AI chatbot, trained it on things like a deceased persons social media posts, and asked loved ones to chat with it. The chatbots first spoke in the first person, as if they were the deceased, and then in the third person as a representative of the deceased. The loved ones liked it. ROCKY SUES KROENKE Well the guy who played Rocky after his dad retired anyway. This is actually a pretty straightforward labor dispute that has turned into a class action suit for any Kroenke employee who was made to sign a separation agreement after the passage of a worker protection law in Colorado. HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY, COLORADO OTTERS Can we all agree that otters are one of the best animals in the pantheon of animals? They are super cute, have little human hands and are very mischieveous. Denis Leary said it best about otters in No Cure for Cancer, one of the greatest stand up videos of all time. There is bad language in this but it makes me laugh so hard.
It’s been 50 years since we reintroduced otters back into the wild in Colorado. Perhaps we should limit rewilding efforts to animas that don’t destroy livestock from now on?

WHAT NEEDS TO BE GIVEN UP TO STOP DRINKING? John Goodman, the actor, said he has given up grilling because it’s a “good excuse to get drunk”. That makes me sad for him as I am a sober griller, but I think when you are making life changes that are big and significant, like getting sober, compromises must be made. When I was a smoker and I would quit, I had to stop going out until I REALLY quit because drinking and smoking were hand in hand for me. I’m just curious if there are other things like this.

Well, a new study suggests that once it’s removed from gravity, the human brain undergoes a reorganization process not dissimilar from the experience of psychedelics. WHAT??? I think men should be lifting heavy things on a regular basis and I’d love to see a comparison that breaks this out by profession.
AND LOW T MAY MAKE CANCER MORE LIKELY As Hormone replacement for both men and women is becoming commonplace there is another reason for men to give it a try. From the article:
The study, published in The Lancet, was a comprehensive meta-analysis that pooled data from 11 studies with a combined total of 24,500 participants. Scientists looked at the men’s testosterone levels and their likelihood of receiving a cancer diagnosis or dying from cancer over a 5-year period. Data were then adjusted for confounding factors like age and lifestyle habits.
The researchers found that men with very low baseline testosterone concentrations were more likely to both develop cancer and die from cancer, whereas normal testosterone levels were associated with lower cancer risk. Importantly, low testosterone was not associated with increased risk of prostate cancer specifically. (There is a common belief that testosterone and prostate cancer are linked, which these findings suggest is false.) Instead, a higher risk of prostate cancer diagnosis was associated with lower levels of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and luteinising hormone (LH).
