Is Vic Trying To Back Out?
A poll put up by Victor's team seems to be looking for an out
COULD VIC BE LOOKING FOR A WAY TO DROP OUT? It seems so, as someone from his team posted a (since deleted) “poll” on a page full of sycophants. Sheriff Steve Reams grabbed a screenshot that I grabbed.
I’m guessing it didn’t go well so they took it down but it sure will be interesting to see what happens before tomorrow night when the debate he ALREADY AGREED TO happens on 9 News. Why would he even ask this question if he weren’t already thinking of dropping out??? We shall see. He’s going to get eaten alive in the biggest way if he shows up. The only person happy he’s going is Joe Biden.
THE RISE OF CLEAN COMEDY I think clean comedy takes a bigger effort than just going blue, because you don’t get the shock value laugh, you have to earn it. Christian Toto wrote a great piece about it here for Hotair.com (it is paywalled but you should subscribe to HotAir.com anyway) and he joins me at 1pm to talk clean comedy and it’s recent revival.
YOUTUBE FILMMAKERS ARE HAVING A MOMENT And two of the biggest movies out right now are by young people who got their start making their own films on YouTube. Read more here but I love this. This is how the internet should change things.
TECH IN SCHOOLS IS NOT MAKING KIDS SMARTER If anything it seems to be making them much dumber. So why do schools keep giving kids tech? They are telling parents to limit screen time and then having kids spend all day on screens at school. And it’s NOT working. Test scores show this generation is the first generation to be dumber than their parents. There a few reasons this is so, not just tech, but we’ve got to right the ship. My high schooler was told that phones would no longer be allowed in class next year, but I’d like to see it go further. It’s time to dumb down school again to make the kids smarter. Read more here.
TRUMP HATRED IS GOING TO RUIN OUR 250TH BIRTHDAY I know a vast majority of my audience remembers 1976 clearly. It was AWESOME. I was 6 going on 7 and I remember everyone wearing red, white, and blue all the time and seeing someone dressed as Betsy Ross or George Washington on a random day was not odd. There were big celebrations and even though the country wasn’t in great shape economically we still all managed to celebrate. Not this year for our 250th. Artists who initially agreed to appear at a concert have backed out, saying they did not want to be part of a “politicized” event. I’m not sure who was politicizing it then, but it sure is now. Now we’ve got a UFC match on the White House lawn and another Trump rally planned. I hate everything about this and I’m super sad that kids won’t get the same level of patriotic celebration that I got back in 1976.
COCO IS A DUMB IDEA And Randal O’Toole writes here about why it will fail. And before you dismiss Randal as an uninspired crank, you should go back and look at his predictions about light rail. He’s right. From the article:
The 63-mile drive between Fort Collins and Denver takes as little as 65 minutes but up to 110 minutes during rush hours. With six intermediate stops, Front Range trains are expected to take 108 minutes. Only two of the six daily trips would be during rush hours and trains won’t be competitive with driving for the other four trips.
If they did attract 250 passengers per trip, Front Range trains would carry 547,500 passengers a year and operating costs would average $46 to $64 per passenger. Fares will cover only a small part of that and taxpayer subsidies will be $40 to $60 per rider.
Real question, is there ever a scenario where you could see yourself taking such a Front Range rail? To be dumped off in Pueblo with no car? I honestly can’t see any such circumstance for myself. Did anyone do any polling to see if anyone is going to use this?
CLAUDE LEMIEUX’S BRAIN IS BEING DONATED TO SCIENCE In order to help scientists understand CTE. After his suicide last week, his family will give his brain to the Boston University CTE Center to research the long-term effects of repetitive brain injuries. This is such a sad story but hopefully this will help someone else. I’m wondering how many non-athletes walk around with CTE and don’t know it. Just curious.
IS THERE HOPE FOR THE COLORADO GOP? I thought Joe Oltmann was a lock to the next Chair of the Colorado GOP but I was wrong, thankfully. Craig Steiner has been elected to the job no one should want and is now tasked with bringing together several groups of bitterly fighting insiders and navigating what will surely be a disastrous decision by the Central Committee to leave the primary. Good luck, Craig, you’re gonna need it. I’ll try to get him on the show this week.
TRUMP IS BITCHING ABOUT A CASE HE HASN’T LOST YET I wish he would just shut his mouth at this point. The birthright citizenship case has been argued at the Supreme Court and a decision should come down by the end of June, but he’s already whining that the Court, which he has chosen a THIRD of, is “rigged” or some such crap. I wish he would just let stuff play out before he starts complaining.
SENDING “GOOD” MOSQUITOS AFTER BAD This is sort of interesting but I do worry about the downstream effects in terms of the food chain. I hate mosquitoes. Growing up in Florida they are an everyday nuisance. Now Google has geoengineered some mosquitoes to carry a bacteria that prevents male mosquitoes from being able to reproduce and they want to release them en masse in California and Florida. My only concern is what happens the animals, like bats, that eat mosquitoes?
A PERSONALIZED VACCINE KEEP MELANOMA AWAY This is why I am so excited about mRNA technology, even though it got a bad rap from the Covid vaccine. What is it?
In the trial, 50 patients received the standard treatment: surgery, followed by a type of immunotherapy called pembrolizumab, also known as Keytruda. Another 107 patients also got a personalized vaccine tailored to their specific tumor. All of the people in the trial had at least Stage 3 melanoma, meaning the cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes or skin and had a high risk of returning even after surgery.
Five years later, nearly 70% of people in the vaccine group were cancer-free, compared to 49% of people in the standard treatment group. Adding the vaccine also cut a person’s risk of the cancer metastasizing by nearly 60%.
I mean, that’s pretty freaking cool and one of my favorite people had melanoma so I want her to see this! This is how this technology is best used, with hyper personalization that isn’t available otherwise.
THE FIGHTING CONTINUES DURING THE CEASEFIRE Because Iran keeps doing stuff and we keep doing stuff back. Iran says they have suspended talks because Israel is still attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon, which is true, but only because Hezbollah has never stopped attacking Israel. Trump keeps saying Iran wants to make a deal and that it will “work out well” but he seems to be the only one saying it.
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB? The job market is in a weird place. Somewhat stable, but not easy to find work in. From CNN:
Many of the challenges job seekers face today stem from a yearslong decline in job openings, which has intensified competition for available roles. In response, more people pursued advanced degrees hoping to gain an edge in the market, but for many, that hasn’t materialized. At the same time, major workforce cuts in sectors like the federal government have added even more candidates to an already crowded field.
Are you looking for a job? I’d love to hear your experience.
TEENS ARE STRUGGLING EVEN MORE TO FIND WORK When I was a kid everyone I knew had a job. And some of those jobs SUCKED. My high school boyfriend picked tobacco every summer since he was 12 so he could buy himself a new truck when he was 16 (and he did). But now it’s not unusual for a kid to not work, but it’s not for lack of trying. This article says even kids looking for work aren’t finding it.
OCEAN AND RIVER CRUISING ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS And as I’ve done both I can attest to that. I love them both but river cruising feels next level fancy and you get great access to the towns you stop in. Read more here.
EUROPE IS TIRING OF MIDDLE EASTERN MASS MIGRATION And they are adopting much stricter rules when it comes to asylum. Read this:
The new E.U. Pact on Migration and Asylum, which takes hold June 12 will impose even tougher measures — including a proposal that could set the stage for Immigration and Customs Enforcement-like raids; more returns to countries such as Taliban-led Afghanistan; and possible deportations to third nations, similar to the United States’ dispatching of migrants to El Salvador and Equatorial Guinea.
“Today, Europe is changing its approach: no longer relying on ideology-based emergency management, but rather on common rules, border control and shared responsibilities,” Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said.
When you let a bunch of people in who not only don’t share your values but actively work to make your country a Muslim one, it’s time to do something.
SHOULD YOU CORRECT SOMEONE ELSE’S CHILD ON A PLANE? I am a firm yes here. If a kid is kicking my seat, I will turn around and nicely explain that it’s annoying and that they should stop. The second time I turn around I give the Death Stare. I have never had the Death Stare not work and I’ve yet to have a parent say a single word to me. This has created a huge conversation online. I do not get upset with kids crying unless the parents aren’t trying to get the kid to stop. How about you?
WHEN LITERALLY MEANS FIGURATIVELY We’ve all done it. Used the word “LITERALLY” when we don’t mean that at all. This article should clear up when to correctly use the word.
THE UN IS A WORTHLESS GARBAGE ORGANIZATION Otherwise this would not be a thing.
REMEMBER WHEN ISRAEL BOMBED A HOSPITAL IN KHAN YOUNIS? And the world screamed “war crime” in unison? Here is the REST of the story.
ABOUT THOSE “GRASSROOTS” ICE PROTESTS You really need to watch this video.
TRAIL RIDGE ROAD IS OPEN FOR THE SEASON And now you can go from Grand Lake to Rocky Mountain National Park unfettered.
THE TRUTH ABOUT QATAR Is that they don’t share our values but are spending millions, if not billions, to create the fantasy that they do. This is a must read.

I have subscribed several times. I have other substack accounts but I still do not get the blog in my email.
Mandy, regarding tech in schools. You should see if you can get Mckenzie Price from Alpha School on the show. She runs a private school that uses AI to teach academics.
